While GPS tracking has been around for a while, some may hesitate to add another task to the responsibilities of leading an expedition. If you haven’t used GPS trackers before, you might feel daunted by the learning curve. However, our unique platform stands apart because it is effortlessly easy to use. At TrackTrail®, we understand that leading a Duke of Edinburgh expedition comes with challenges. We also recognize that complex technology shouldn't be one of them. We've been in your shoes. That's why we’ve designed our entire customer experience—with simplicity at its core. From ordering to return, we prioritize ease of use.
Effortless Ordering and Delivery
Getting started with TrackTrail® couldn’t be simpler:
One-time account setup: Our easy-to-use quotation system sends you an email with one click to convert your quotation into an order. Enter your details once, and they're saved for all future expeditions.
Trackers arrive fully charged: We ship devices ahead of your expedition date, giving you ample time to organize.
Complete kit provided: Each tracker includes pouches for easy attachment to students' backpacks.
Hassle-free returns: After your expedition, opt for a prepaid return label. You can send everything back in the same reusable delivery box—no need to find boxes and tape.
"The ordering page is very simple to use and to edit. Trackers always arrive on time, and back-to-back orders are always factored in," confirms Jen George. She highlights how TrackTrail® streamlines the logistics.
Smooth Expedition Day Experience
On expedition day, simply power on the trackers, and they will show on the map—simple as that! Some customers choose to customize expeditions by uploading routes directly created in OS Online/eDofE, including checkpoints and meeting points. There’s no need to redraw them. You may wish to set a password as well.
If you need assistance, our helpful how-to guides are available. Alternatively, give us a call; we’re always happy to help. We support events across the UK and around the world, spanning multiple time zones. Thus, we respond quickly to your needs.
"There have been times where I have contacted the company even late in the evening with issues, only to find a quick and helpful reply," adds Simon Payne, emphasizing TrackTrail®'s commitment to support.
User-Friendly Tracking During Expeditions
During your expedition, access the platform to view your students’ locations on a map from any device with an internet connection. There’s no software to download or update. Just use the weblink on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Ensure your team has the password, if you set one up.
Our tracking system differs from competitors because there’s no limit on viewers. Your entire team can monitor progress without needing multiple accounts or incurring extra costs. Plus, it’s easy for new volunteers to gain access right away.
Our system is the only one that shows the direction of travel with a simple arrow on the tracking flag. With just one click, you can see a group's speed and estimated arrival time. If a group requires help, our system shows your location on the map, guiding you directly to them or to a checkpoint.
If you find yourself in an area with poor mobile connectivity, our backup system is handy. You can send an SMS to our system, and it will respond via SMS with your location and essential information.
Enhanced Safety and Time-Saving Features
TrackTrail® takes the guesswork out of expedition supervision:
Accurate ETAs for each group: No more wasted hours waiting at checkpoints. Arrive at camp just in time to greet your students.
Instant alerts for help: The SOS feature immediately notifies your nominated phone number of any problems, ensuring swift responses.
Replay function for learning: Easily review recorded routes with students after the expedition to facilitate learning and reflection on what may have gone wrong without the guesswork.
Expert Support When You Need It
Our dedicated customer support team is available 24/7 to address queries and save you time by helping you select the right tracker for your expedition area. We maintain a comprehensive help page at TrackTrail Support.
As Andrew Edwards notes: "Richard and the team at TrackTrail are fantastic and cannot do enough to help. Their instructions are very clear and easy to follow, and their responsiveness to questions cannot be faulted."
When it comes to Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, you have enough to worry about. Let TrackTrail® handle the tracking technology, so you can concentrate on what truly matters—delivering a safe, educational, and transformative outdoor experience for your students.
