Whilst GPS tracking has been around for a while, there can be some hesitancy about adding in another administrative task on top of the responsibilities of leading an expedition. If you haven’t used GPS trackers before, it may feel like there could be a steep learning curve, but we our unique plaform stands apart in that it is effortly easy to use. At TrackTrail® we understand that leading a Duke of Edinburgh expedition comes with enough challenges without adding complex technology to the mix, because we’ve been there ourselves. At TrackTrail®, we know that expedition leaders need reliable tracking solutions that don't require an IT degree to operate. That's why we've designed our entire customer experience—from ordering to return—with simplicity at its core.

Effortless Ordering and Delivery

Getting started with TrackTrail® couldn't be simpler:

  • One-time account setup: Our easy to use quotation system sends you an email with one click to convert your qutotation into an order. Enter your details once, and they'll be saved for all future expeditions.

  • Trackers arrive fully charged: We ship devices ahead of your expedition date, so you have time to organise yourself.

  • Complete kit provided: Each tracker comes with pouches for easy attachment to students' backpacks.

  • Hassle-free returns: When your expedition concludes, you can opt for a prepaid return label and send everything back in the same reusable delivery box - no need to find boxes and tape.

"The ordering page is very simple to use and to edit. Trackers always arrive on time, and back-to-back orders are always factored in," confirms Jen George, highlighting how TrackTrail® streamlines the logistics.

On expedition day, simply power on the trackers and they will show to the map, simple as that! Some customers choose to optionally customise an expedition by uploading routes directly created in OS Online/eDofE including checkpoints and meeting points. There is no need to draw them out again. You may wish to set a password too. If you need any help, you can consult our helpful - how to guides, or give us a call, we are always happy to help. We support events all of the UK and all over the World in multiple timezones, so we respond quickly to your needs.

"There have been times where I have contacted the company even late in the evening with issues to find a quick and helpful reply," adds Simon Payne, emphasising TrackTrail®'s commitment to support.

User-Friendly Tracking During Expeditions

During your expedition, you can access the platform to view your students’ location on a map from any device with internet connection: There's no software to download or update. Just use the weblink on your phone, tablet, or laptop. All you need to do is ensure your team have the password, if you set one up. We are different from competitors, because there is no licensing limit on viewers, which means your entire team can monitor progress without creating multiple accounts, paying more, and it is easy for new volunteers to get access straight away.  Our tracking system is the only one that shows direction of travel with a simple arrow on the tracking flag. With just one click, you can see a group's speed and estimated arrival time. If a group is in need of help our system will even show your location on the map, and navigate you directly to a group or to a checkpoint.

If you are in an area of poor mobile, we have a backup system. You can send an SMS to our system and it will respond via SMS with location and important information.

Enhanced Safety and Time-Saving Features

TrackTrail® eliminates the guesswork that traditionally accompanies expedition supervision:

  • Accurate ETAs for each group: No more wasted hours waiting at checkpoints—arrive at camp just in time to greet your students.

  • Instant alerts when groups need help: The SOS feature immediately notifies your nominated phone number of problems, allowing for swift response.

  • Replay function for learning: Easily review recorded routes with students after the expedition to facilitate learning and reflection on what may have gone wrong, without the guesswork.

Expert Support When You Need It

Our dedicated customer support team is available 24/7 to answer queries and save you time by helping  you select the right tracker for your specific expedition area. We also maintain a comprehensive help page at https://www.expedition-tracking.com/help-and-support.
